Daniel 2:44… And in the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people.
If you have time, read Daniel 2: verses 31 – 45. The dream that God gave Nebuchadnezzar is fully described in those verses and it still impacts people today. He saw, in his dream, a great image… the head was made of gold, The shoulders were silver, the trunk of the image was bronze, the legs were iron and the feet were a mixture of iron and clay. By explanation we learn that the head was Babylon, gold; IN coming years Babylon was defeated by the Medes and the Persians. They were the part of the statue that was silver… not as pure as gold but precious still the same. Notice that they did not replace Babylon; they upheld it. That helps explain a verse in Revelation… many year later.
Revelation 18:1-2… After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory. And he called out with a mighty voice, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great.”
Daniel described Babylon being displaced by 2 countries and history shows us that it was. But the system by which Babylon ruled was wealth and power. That system is still in authority on earth today. One day, the Kingdom of God will destroy that system.
Jesus was formed without hands; He was put here by God. His influence started very small... a baby in a manger. Yet His influence grew to fill the whole earth. The next line in the interpretation is very significant. His kingdom, his influence, will not be taken by any people. The kingdoms of the world were overtaken by other kingdoms of lesser value. We, as believers, are part of God’s kingdom. His kingdom is spiritual and He is king in His kingdom. Don’t mess with that. When churches try to compete in the world, they get into competition. The world’s system is run on competition. “My church has better music than yours; well, mine has better graphics; yeah, but mine has a beautiful gym for sports; so what, mine has a modern coffee shop for fellowship.” God’s kingdom is spiritual… Jesus is the boss. His law? “Love!”
