Acts 12:24… But the word of God increased and multiplied.
When I read this morning, it seemed to me that nothing inspired me. I was brain dead. I chose this verse because it was short and even as I typed it, I asked God to show me something from it. He spoke one thing to my heart and that is: “Increased is not the same as multiplied.”
Increased… Grew, not so much in size; but in importance… and thus in effectiveness.
Is the word of God increasing in our lives?
Multiplied… Spread out… not just in proximity but also in amount.
Is the word of God multiplying in our lives?
Is it multiplying in our surroundings?
Proverbs 4:18… But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn; which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
The Path of God, which is paved with His words, shines brighter and brighter. Is that your experience? I have complained that it just get harder and harder. It may get harder to see and I may fall off from time to time but the Bible says it shines brighter and brighter, like the dawn of a new day. I can argue with the Bible, that is not prohibited; but I will always lose. The verse this morning lets us know that God’s word will not be stopped.
In chapter 12 of Acts, we read about deliverance from jail and we read about arrogance and death. During all of that and all of the inconsistencies of it, the word of God was not stopped. I want to return our attention to something I said earlier. “The Path of God is paved with his words.”
I have never heard that and I have never meditated on it but after I wrote it I thought about the significance of it. We sing a song… “Standing on the promises” And, we read in Psalms 119… “Thy word is a light unto my path and a lamp unto my feet.” If the Path of God is paved with His words, the Path lights itself. That makes a lot of sense to me; it is more understandable than a flashlight shining on a path. As we get used to walking in the light, it gets brighter and brighter. The Path is more easily followed. Live in the His Light.
